Why a Filter of a Dancing Old Man Is Taking Over TikTok Right Now

Oftentimes, it’s impossible to predict the next TikTok trend. It can be something you’ve never imagined before. But there’s also a chance to see something and just know that it needs a little bit more time to go viral. Now, the latest TikTok trend is just as unexpected as it is entertaining. Meet Horace, the dancing bald man that’s becoming a part of more and more videos on the app.

TikTok’s New Viral Filter

Horace is part of a filter that became super popular lately on TikTok. He’s usually dancing to Drake’s song “Feel No Ways” and he’s wearing orange pajamas. In the TikToks his appearance is usually part of the punchline. Creators are using him as a stand-in for all the guys that want to buy you a drink when you’re out at a bar. However, many times, Horace is just there vibing in the video. So far, his awesome moves have captured the hearts of many, and videos with the #Horace hashtag have over 155 million views.

More About Horace

According to the 23-year-old artist who created Horace, Jackson Quinn Gray, he’s a symbol of the anti-censorship movement. He’s not just a great-looking guy who’s also a great dancer. The inspiration behind Horace came from a sculpturing class, the young artist attended over two years ago. Gray originally posted on Facebook and Instagram a naked version of the character and it had moderate success. However, Horace was later removed and Gray got an email saying that his character is violating the guidelines of the platforms. Later on, Gray recreated the character with his now signature pajamas because he wanted to revive Horace. The creator now sees Horace as a totem fighting against all of the censorship in social media in recent years.
